Can You Truly Enjoy Polish Moonshine at Liverpool's Bombed Out Church Market?

There's something incredibly special about setting up our stand at the Bombed Out Church Market in Liverpool. It’s a place brimming with history, creativity, and a real community spirit. Every time I'm there, I get asked, "Polish moonshine in Liverpool? How does that work?" And my answer is always the same: it works beautifully. The North West, in general, has such a welcoming atmosphere for independent makers, and Liverpool especially embraces unique flavours and stories. We love meeting new people, introducing them to our traditional Polish-style moonshine, and seeing their faces light up when they try something unexpected.

For us at AK Distillery, these markets are more than just a place to sell bottles. They're a chance to connect face-to-face, to share what we do and why we love it. Whether it's explaining the subtle differences between our Traditional Moonshine and a vibrant Passion Fruit, or recommending a serve for our popular White Chocolate moonshine, these interactions are invaluable. Each market, from Manchester to Harrogate, helps us build that personal connection that's at the heart of what we do. And if you're in Liverpool this weekend, we'll be at the Bombed Out Church Market on June 21st – pop by and say hello!

The Unexpected Charm of Polish Moonshine at a Liverpool Market

I often think about how different places shape our experience of food and drink. A busy market in the heart of Liverpool, with its eclectic mix of street food, crafts, and music, creates a distinct backdrop for sipping something a little out of the ordinary. Our Polish moonshine, with its bold character, finds its own space here. It’s not about being loud or flashy; it’s about offering something authentic. People are genuinely curious, and it’s a joy to offer them a taste of a spirit that carries a piece of our heritage, distilled right here in Stalybridge.

When we first started AK Distillery, Krzysztof and I wanted to create something that honoured Polish moonshine traditions but also carved out its own niche within the UK craft spirits scene. We focused on sugar, yeast, and water as our base, ensuring we could produce our traditional Polish-style moonshine and our range of delicious flavours like Kiwi & Hibiscus or our rich Tiramisu. The feedback we get at markets consistently reinforces that there's a real appetite out there for spirits made with integrity and a distinct flavour profile. It’s incredibly encouraging.

Finding Your Flavour at the Bombed Out Church

So, what can you expect if you visit us? A warm greeting, of course! We love to talk about our spirits, whether it’s the smooth, warming character of our Traditional Moonshine or the indulgent creaminess of our Roasted Hazelnut. We’ll guide you through the flavours, and perhaps even suggest a way to enjoy them at home. Our goal is always to make your experience enjoyable and informative. We've even curated bespoke gift hampers at these events, which always prove popular for birthdays or just as a special treat for someone.

The Bombed Out Church itself adds an extra layer to the market atmosphere. It’s a place of contemplation and renewal, and against that backdrop, tasting a spirit with a long history feels special. It reminds me that even as we look forward to opening our own customer venue in Stalybridge within the next few months – a place where you can enjoy signature cocktails and light snacks like Polish kabanos – these markets will always be a crucial part of who we are. They are where we started, and where we continue to build connections, one glass at a time.

Being part of the market scene across the North West, from the lively streets of Liverpool to the familiar bustle of Trentham Market (where we'll also be on June 20th), is truly rewarding. It lets us bring our vision of authentic Polish-style moonshine to a wider audience, showing that a traditional spirit can be both respected and thoroughly modern. So, yes, you absolutely can enjoy Polish moonshine at a Liverpool market – sometimes the most unexpected combinations create the best experiences.
